Personal “me” Day

Those of us who struggle with anxiety and depression know that there are days when normal daily life isn’t possible. You can’t function. Maybe it’s hard to motivate yourself to get out of bed. Maybe the thought of going to your job and being around people (or wearing a blasted N95 reject mask you can’t breathe through) is enough to terrorize your brain. Anxiety and depression are unpredictable and often debilitating.

When this happens, take a day for yourself. I personally enjoy time in nature. My grandmother and I spent time together planting a few bulbs at my new house-in-progress. Being in the sunshine, playing in the earth, and having the company of a loved one who is silently understanding was very therapeutic.

We need personal days. They refuel our resolve so that we can continue to fight our mental demons. Know that you’re no alone. You can do this. If you do not feel strong, find strength in the earth.
